Announcement of Visa Policy to Protect Religious Minorities in Bangladesh

H. E. President of India,

Rashtrapati Bhavan,

New Delhi – 110 004,

India

Subject: Request for Announcement of Visa Policy to Protect Religious Minorities in Bangladesh

Your Excellency,

I hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. I am writing to bring to your attention an urgent matter that requires immediate consideration. As a concerned global citizen, I respectfully request the Government of India to announce a visa policy aimed at safeguarding the rights and security of religious minorities, including Hindus, Buddhists, Christians, and others, in Bangladesh.

Religious minorities in Bangladesh have faced various challenges, including violence, discrimination, and persecution, resulting in a pervasive sense of insecurity within these communities. It is incumbent upon the international community to take necessary measures to protect their fundamental rights and ensure their safety.

Drawing inspiration from the recent visa policy announced by the United States, which supports democratic elections in Bangladesh, I firmly believe that a similar visa policy implemented by the Government of India would significantly contribute to the protection of religious minorities in Bangladesh. Such a policy would emphasize the importance of religious freedom and convey a powerful message of support to these vulnerable communities.

The proposed visa policy would target individuals, including current and former Bangladeshi officials, members of pro-government and opposition political parties, as well as members of law enforcement, the judiciary, and security services, who are believed to be responsible for, or complicit in, undermining the democratic election process in Bangladesh. This would include actions such as vote rigging, voter intimidation, violence to suppress peaceful assembly, and measures designed to restrict the dissemination of political views.

By implementing this visa policy, India would demonstrate its unwavering commitment to promoting religious freedom, human rights, and democratic values. Furthermore, it would serve as a strong diplomatic measure to address the concerns of religious minorities and encourage the Government of Bangladesh to proactively protect their rights.

I kindly request Your Excellency to give this matter the utmost consideration and take the necessary steps to announce a visa policy focused on safeguarding religious minorities in Bangladesh. Your leadership and dedication to upholding the principles of justice, equality, and religious freedom would undoubtedly have a profound impact on the lives of many individuals in Bangladesh.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I remain hopeful that India, under your esteemed leadership, will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and well-being of religious minorities in Bangladesh.

Please accept our sincere wishes to you and the people of India. Joy Bangla!

With the sincerest gratitude,
