We Will Not Be Silenced — A Call to Defend Human Dignity
In the face of injustice, silence is not neutrality — it is complicity. Across Bangladesh, minority communities, students, workers, and defenders of justice are raising their voices for equality, protection, and dignity. Yet their calls are often met with repression, surveillance, and violence. This moment is not one to whisper. It is a time to speak with clarity, courage, and conviction.
Human Dignity Is Not Negotiable
Every human being — regardless of ethnicity, religion, language, gender, or social class — carries an inalienable dignity. This dignity is not a privilege granted by the state; it is a birthright. To violate it is to violate the very foundation of humanity itself.
In Bangladesh, we have witnessed systematic discrimination, arbitrary arrests, and the silencing of dissenting voices. But history teaches us a clear lesson: when a people are denied their dignity, resistance is not a choice — it becomes a duty.
We Refuse to Accept Fear as Normal
Authoritarian systems thrive on fear. They expect people to shrink into silence, to accept injustice as inevitable, to believe that nothing can change. But we stand on the shoulders of countless brave individuals who have refused to bow their heads. From rural villages to urban streets, the spark of courage is alive — and it will not be extinguished.
Solidarity Is Our Strength
The struggle for human dignity is not the burden of one group alone. When minority communities are targeted, the entire nation is weakened. True democracy stands on the protection of the most vulnerable. Solidarity — between students, workers, faith groups, civil society, and human rights defenders — is our greatest power.
A Call to Action
We call upon every citizen, organisation, and policymaker to:
-
End systemic discrimination and ensure equal protection under the law for all communities.
-
Stop the violence and harassment against peaceful protesters and human rights defenders.
-
Protect freedom of expression and assembly as fundamental democratic rights.
-
Build a culture of justice rooted in human dignity, not fear.
Our silence today would be tomorrow’s regret. Let us rise — together — for a Bangladesh where every person can live with safety, equality, and respect.
