The Man That's Me of Today

The Man That's Me of Today

-Minhaz Samad Chowdhury

Man lives with a dream, and it is the dream that keeps man alive.

Man does not live in wealth and lineage,

Man lives in creative work.

Only those with an artistic soul are truly creative,

Those who carry a beautiful, creative dream within—

And those with artistic souls are fiercely independent.

They may have nothing else,

But they have an independent mind.

People of independent mind never flatter

Anyone for self-interest.

They are free-minded, independent-minded.

Even the language of their appeal is without flattery.

They would rather embrace death,

Than bow their heads to someone

And drag through life.

Living as such an independent-minded man,

I find life's ultimate joy and deepest contentment.

And so I can tell myself—

I am much happier than ten other men.
