Defeat Poverty--- US Senate: Support Smallholder Farmers to Feed Millions

On the day you read this message, an estimated 2.3 billion people will have gone to bed hungry or without safe, sufficient or nutritious food.

In 2015, world leaders came together and agreed to end hunger by 2030. Now, the world is not only off track, but due to conflict and COVID-19, it’s moving alarmingly in the wrong direction to achieve this promise.
The US has a huge role to play to help get the world back on the path to end extreme hunger. In February, the Biden Administration pledged its support to the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), but we need to act fast to get the funding to farmers in urgent need.
I am relying on you as the Senate Appropriators to follow through on this commitment by providing $60M in FY22 funding to IFAD to support farmers weather any storm, grow more food, create more jobs and ensure that no child goes to bed unsure of where their next meal will come from.
Thank you for everything you have done and continue to do to help improve lives and increase the incomes and resilience of the world’s poorest people through greater investment in smallholder farmers.

Sincerely -
